Understanding the menu structure
Your Sippo menu is structured into sections:
Beverages;
Food; and
Misc.
Within each section you can create and arrange Categories and Products. You can toggle between sections at any time by using the pill buttons at the top of the page.
Note: The products you add to your menu will be available to add to any Displays you create later on in this guide.
Setting up your menu
1. Create your first category
Categories organize your menu and make it easy for customers to find what they are looking for.
To create your first category, click the + Create Category button.
As you build out your categories, you might want to rearrange them. You can do so at any time by dragging categories into whatever order you’d like. This order will be reflected on your web, embedded, and print menus.
Category examples:
Beverage: On Draft, Wines, Tea & Coffee, Non-alcoholic, etc.
Food: Appetizers, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Sides, Desserts, etc.
Descriptions:
Adding a Category descriptions is a great way to highlight specials (e.g. Happy Hours), add-ons, or common pricing. For example: “All mains come with fries or a side salad.”
Category descriptions are displayed on web, embed, and print menus.
2. Create your first product
Products are created within categories by clicking + Create Product and filling in the product details.
To keep your menu looking clean, we recommend adding in a Producer only when the product isn’t made by you (e.g. guest beers, wines, etc.). You can also easily add in a logo or image of the product, or add tags to help patrons easily identify certain types of products (e.g. vegetarian).
See Creating Tags for more information.
💡 Product images
When uploading images, remember to only use images that you have explicit permission to use.
2a. Purchase Options
You can add pricing or sizing information by adding in purchase options. Each option can have an option/size name and/or a price.
Purchase options can also be used to highlight additional options, such as “+ Espresso Shot”.
2b. In-stock
Once you have created your product, you can easily toggle its “In stock” status using the button next to the product card. Marking a product as out of stock will also mark the product out of stock on your menu and displays.
